UK Government’s Free Breakfast Club Scheme
A Super Opportunity for Schools & Children
The UK Government is launching an exciting new initiative in April 2025, introducing free breakfast clubs to up to 750 state-funded primary schools in England. This early adopter scheme is designed to test and learn what works best before expanding the programme further in the coming years.
At Super Star Sport, we see this as a fantastic opportunity to not only fuel children with a nutritious breakfast but also unlock another key time of day to get them active, energised, and ready to learn.
How Does the Government’s Breakfast Club Trial Work?
The trial schools will offer:
✅ A free breakfast that meets school food standards
✅ At least 30 minutes of childcare before school
✅ An inclusive club open to all primary-aged children on roll at the school
✅ Funding to support food, delivery, and staffing costs
Schools can apply now by completing an Expression of Interest Form via the Department for Education (DfE) login. Schools will receive a response in January 2025 regarding whether their application has been successful.

Why Morning Routines Matter – The Power of a Positive Start
At Super Star Sport, we know that a structured morning routine is one of the most powerful tools for setting children up for success. How a child starts their day can impact their:
✔ Focus and concentration throughout lessons
✔ Mood and emotional wellbeing
✔ Behaviour and social interactions
✔ Energy levels and physical health
When children begin their day with movement, engagement, and fun, they release endorphins, boost their confidence, and enter the classroom feeling motivated and ready to learn.
This initiative is not just about breakfast – it’s about setting positive habits for life.
Unlocking Another Time of the Day for Physical Activity
The introduction of funded breakfast clubs creates another golden opportunity to get children active before school. We believe movement and learning go hand in hand, and we’d love to see schools integrate active sessions into their morning routines.
Imagine children starting the day with:
🏹 Soft Archery – A fun, cross-curricular activity that involves maths and PE, helping children use their minds while being physically engaged.
🤾 Dodgeball Matches – A great way to socialise, have fun, and move while promoting teamwork and strategy.
🏃♂️ The Golden Mile – A chance to stretch their legs, breathe in fresh air, and wake up their bodies before lessons.
⚽ Football, Handball & Athletics – Building key motor skills, teamwork, and confidence before stepping into the classroom.
Starting the day with these activities isn’t just about fitness, it’s about mental wellbeing, social connection, and creating lifelong healthy habits.
