CPD & PE Training Delivered to 277 Teachers

Landmark Day at Super Star Sport: Huge PE INSET Delivered to Arbor Academy Trust

The first day back after the Easter break marked a landmark moment for Super Star Sport. Our HQ team delivered a full-scale PE and Lunchtime Club INSET day to Arbor Academy Trust, made up of four primary schools and a total of 277 Teachers and Teaching Assistants, including Headteachers and Heads of Schools.

This wasn’t just another training session. It was one of the most ambitious and rewarding INSET days we’ve ever delivered. In our world, this is the Hollywood stage of primary school PE.

A Complex Brief with a Clear Goal

Our task was to deliver six separate PE topics, covering Reception through to Year 6, on one-hour rotations across four hours. Alongside this, we also ran sessions for lunchtime staff on how to create safe, engaging and purposeful lunchtime sports clubs.

To bring this day to life, we allocated:
– Six experienced coaches to deliver age-specific PE topics
– Three coaches dedicated to lunchtime club activities and structure

What We Delivered
Each session was designed to align with the national curriculum, meet the requirements of PPA cover, and ensure high-quality teaching and learning in every activity. The content focused on:

– Key fundamental movement skills for each age group
– Set-up, safety, equipment use, transitions, and risk awareness
– Structured warm ups, linked directly to the topic
– Main activities, centred on the development of physical literacy and sport-specific skills
– End game or performance sections, where the learning was brought together in a fun and purposeful way

The lunchtime club sessions provided easy-to-run, low-equipment, high-engagement activities for children, helping schools create structured, positive environments during break times.

A Strong Focus on CPD
This wasn’t just a one-off training day, it was a valuable CPD opportunity for teachers and support staff. Our approach gives school staff practical tools to confidently deliver physical education in line with the primary school PE curriculum.

We support ongoing teacher development, ensuring staff feel more equipped to deliver active, purposeful and inclusive PE lessons as part of their wider PPA cover or classroom delivery. By upskilling school teams, we help build consistent, long-term impact across schools and trusts.

Feedback from Arbor Academy Trust
We were proud to receive excellent feedback from Executive Principal Jason Cook, who shared:
“I have had some initial feedback from staff and they were very impressed with the sessions and found them to be very useful. We have already seen the impact with PE lessons that took place yesterday. Teachers are already using some of the activities they learnt in the sessions, which is great.
It was a really useful morning.”

This kind of feedback is why we do what we do. Seeing schools take immediate action and apply their learning into the classroom shows the power of high-quality, hands-on CPD.
